Back to Borrowdale and this time a walk along the River Derwent from Rosthwaite up
to Grange. Here the river is often very shallow with wide banks that are enjoyed
in the summertime by families. There are narrow channels that have fabulous shapes.
In these drawings I have tried to show the line of the water as the negative shape,
left by the surrounding gravel or sand, or ripples. They change, they shift, they
are transient with the flow of the water, so we won’t be able to see them again.
