Wild meadows & Millefleurs paintings
Damian has been pursuing his admiration for Wild Meadows and exploring the medieaval tapestry idea of Millefleurs. This was something that the Flemish weavers used to show off their weaving skills.
Ever since seeing his first natual wild meadow, when crossing into the old Czechoslovakia in 1989 when on tour with his band Pressgang. Damian was completely struck by seeing a meadow, full of wildflowers in a place where Communist farming methods meant that the meadow had not been spoilt by modern chemicals.
Of course nowadays, meadows in the UK and Western Europe are trying to revitalise this diversity. On a more recent trip to the Langdale Valley in Cumbria, Damian once again was struck by a beautiful wild meadow that had been left to grow without cutting. The butterflies and other fauna were a sight to behold. Ever since then, Damian has been trying to capture this floral diversity in his paintings.
